The pictures are decent, but a little shaky on the line work. I really expected a bit better. You'd have to use a really fine tipped colored pencil to color the designs in as well as I'd like, without making it look sloppy. I like the artwork well enough, but I don't think they really thought through the designs from a 'coloring book' perspective. Otherwise, a decent effort, but not great.

I really like the content of this book. Somewhere I have a copy of an earlier edition (from the '70s/'80s). I was excited to see that it was available in the Kindle edition.However, they were very LAZY about creating the edition. They included 2 pages face up, would wouldn't be too bad on my 30" computer monitor. However, this kindle version isn't available to download on PCs. That leaves my 5" Android smart phone. 2 pages is just laughable. You can see that something is there, but no details. Supposedly, you can tap & expand the picture, but that's only for one of the book's physical pages. Then there's my 7" Kindle Fire. Even there, the screen size is too small to see the drawings clearly, which is why I bought it.To make matters worse, the dictionary isn't even searchable! Isn't that one reason why we buy electronic books? Since the signs are grouped by topic (a good choice), you have to go to the index to find the word you want, then try to guess which page you might find it on by the Kindle "Location #" (out of 182, when there are 340 pages).To take an example, let's say I want to know the sign for Permit. I got to the index in the back and scroll to find the right word in the index (location 180). Then, I need to go to page 128. There are links to the correct page, but with the size of the words in the index, can I really get the word I want? (Answer: Sometimes yes, other times no.) If the link doesn't work, then I need to use a scroll bar to get to Location 66. (There's no Go To option to type in the location.)All in all, the Kindle version is HORRIBLE!

The Joy of Signing: The New Illustrated Guide for Mastering Sign Language and the Manual Alphabet is an essential guide to learning the basics of sign language. This book was bought for my young daughter as she showed an interest in being able to at least know a few basics if she encountered some one who could not hear. She has used this book countless times and even gave a small demo on the signs used for various animals to a group of her peers. This is a must have when learning and a great reference point when you need it.

i bought this for my youth minister at church. he works with the kids a lot and i thought he might find it useful!!! i have one too and i used it a lot when i was teaching at a montessori school a few years ago. it is a great book. i guess sometime i should update and get a newer one but this one is so easy to use. i had my students learn several songs in sign language they loved it.

middle "ground" learners of sign language. I have taught sign language and deaf culture for over 35 years plus interpreted for the deaf and I have observed that many ppl find this book the easiest introduction to sign. Lest someone jump on this, I don't pretend to do ASL, but rather use PSE and prefer it. I am hard of hearing myself. Love this book. Kinda wish there would come a new edition soon.

I am happy with the content as I am able to find the words and instruction are easy to follow but the image and word are not adjustable and it is hard to read. I am using a Samsung tab3 10'. I would not want to image viewing this on my son's 7' tablet,I am sure it will bend hard to read or recognize information.

The kindle version of this book is small printed unlike all the other kindle books I have. I find it difficult to read and will have to end up buying the hard copy instead.

It was a used book and it was in good condition and I will be able to use it to refresh my signing

This kindle edition is impossible to read. It is all so tiny. I have the book but wanted the kindle edition for easy access. I have other signing books on kindle that are easy to read but not as complete as the Joy of Signing. I would like a refund unless you can correct the copy into something readable.

We're adding to our teaching base with the arrival of the pig aka Prudence and a bat who is really a vampire named Vladimir but we need some class time. What fantastic things will they be able to teach us? Prudence can force you to change your body and prevent you from casting spells, while Vladimir can make you answer a myriad of questions truthfully. Who else will come to our aid, bring what kinds of magic? It's thrilling and spellbinding and wonderfully fun. Before you know it you're at the end if the book waiting with bated breath for the next installment.Believe me, if you truly want to immerse yourself in magic and magical beings, this series is for you.

Lucia Ashta makes it look so easy, her books just flow with every word in the right place.As the action continue in this fast paced adventure, we see Isa and Nando beginning their lessons in Magic. Many new intriguing and complex characters are introduced, as the reader discovers this new world, and much beloved old characters from the Witching World make their appearance.The Author continues with her strong plot and very interesting storyline, and there are lots of surprises as twists and turns abound.There is also very good detailed explanation to all the characters, scenes and settings and the excitement, adventure and suspense continues to transport the reader on an interesting journey from start to finish. Highly recommended.The book is very well presented with an eye catching cover.Gifted with a copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Ashta doesn't seem to break a sweat bringing this page turning bombshell into another astounding read with a strong plot that keeps your focus on the storyline. All the action, fast paced, suspense filled, excitement and adventure to keep you on a razors edge. The characters were intriguing, complex and realistic. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Twists and turns abound with nerve racking, thrilling surprises that will keep you spellbound and anxious for whats next. Following the characters as their world continues in chaos with a whirlwind of mishaps and discoveries. Ashta did an incredible job bringing this read to life flawlessly and without a hitch. Great job Ashta, thanks for sharing this remarkable tale with us.I received an ARC for this story.

Wow this series really is a cracker.It has all the usual qualities that we come to expect of Lucia’s magical fantasy stories but it comes, in my humble opinion, with the bonus of meeting old characters in the Witching World series that you grew to love.It’s certainly an outstanding piece of writing and I for one am looking forward to the rest of the series.Thank you once again Lucia. It makes my day to read another of your creations.

I just finished reading this book and wow! I loved it. Isa and Nando are introduced to two new teachers and they begin to wonder if they can get through one lesson without interruption or feeling like they are completely lost. But through all of that, they are still faced with attacks from the SMS, who are the based guys. Can they make it through one day? Seriously great read.

I recieved an ARC and willingly chose to reviewI liked this third installment, the new characters--especially the Prudence--her dramatics are entertaining, but she's also a formidable character which was nice to see as well. I can't quite figure Brave or Gertrude out, they haven't had much interaction with Isa or Nando for me to like them or not. Most of these last two books have been more about finding new students and teachers to build the school up as well as fortifying their defenses around the school. The plot is still strong and solid and I'm able to fully immerse myself in the book, I'm looking forward to Isa interacting more with the other characters and to find out what she's capable if doing. Can't wait to see what's going to happen next, now that a traitor has been identified.

This installment in the series was as much fun as the others. Isa and Nando are learning to never be surprised by anything, as they meet two of their new teachers. Pretty colorful charterers, to say the least! While there is danger coming from all directions, there is unity and camaraderie and that doesn't alter, despite the crazy circumstances. I can't wait to find out what happens next.

I suppose my expectations were to get more of Dick's philosophy or personal wonderings about life, but instead the book is basically exactly ramblings about his day to day activities- observing animal sightings, getting supplies, and what's weird about it is you feel like you have to read it in exact order to get an idea of all the names he mentions. Like, you can't just skip through it and read things otherwise you'll be asking yourself, "Who the heck is this guy he is talking about" or whatever. He does very little deep thinking which is what i was surprised about. This collection is like,"Woke up late today at 5:30 am, had my usual oatmeal. The birds came again today and ate of my hand, went over to this "X" hill and saw a bunch of animals. Answered letters and then like did some random stuff." I wouldn't buy it again.

What I didn't realize was how big this book is. Keep in mind that these are Dick's unedited journal entries about day to day life and do not read like an actual book. As others have mentioned, the quality of the book itself is poor but the words are not blurry like the covers. A must-have for those who like reading about the life of this amazing man.

I just admire the man and the way he lived life... that simple take on things. If you liked anything else that he wrote you will probably like this one as much... just keep in mind it's written as a journal (that's why it has "journals" on the title), so a day-by-day entry of his normal everyday life activities. Some people love it, some people hate it... just know what you going for.If you haven't read anything Dick Proenneke yet, I suggest you start by reading One Man's Wilderness: An Alaskan Odyssey, written by Sam Keith, which gives a more "readable" glimpse into the great life of this man.

I purchased my copy from Amazon in 2009. The first book I received had damaged inserts, but they replaced it right away.I first learned of this wonderful man from the PBS broadcast of Alone In The Wilderness. After my first viewing, I had to learn more about him and his life at Twin Lakes. First I read "One Man's Wilderness", and found it contained everything in the program. Subsequently I obtained all the dvds that are available through today. They are all fascinating.Dick Proenneke's writing keeps me grounded. I've read "More Readings" three times since my purchase, and enjoy it as much each time through. Other reviewers are correct, there is another book available from the Park Service through their bookstore, and I have ordered a copy of that, as well. This man's writing, and the photos of his amazing life style, will be with me for my lifetime.Since I cannot imagine being in a position to visiting the cabin where he spent so much of his life, the dvds and journals are the next best way of viewing the place and imagining what it was like to be there, summer and winter, in the Twin Lakes region. I am eternally grateful so many of his friends and relatives are interested in sharing his insights. Thank you!

This copy of the book was really odd. The cover looked like a bad photo-copy of a book cover. Like someone went to the office xerox machine and made a copy of the books cover. It was very blurry and poor quality. The content, however, is great! If you are a fan of Proenneke and the life he lived, this book is a great companion to One Man's Wilderness. I would recommend buying some book tape and reinforcing the spine of the book so it holds up through the long read.

I purchased this book as a gift for my hard-to-please mother, who had viewed the PBS television documentary about Richard L. Proenneke and his quest to live in the wilderness of Alaska. She was enthralled by his tenacity and determination -- and she was absolutely tickled when she opened her present! This book goes into much, much more detail than the documentary was able to, highlighting Richard's struggles and triumphs as he builds his homestead in a remote area of Alaska -- entirely by himself -- foraging for wood, making his own tools, growing his own food, etc. Vivid descriptions of the scenery, climate, and wildlife enhanced this amazing true story about a man who chose to live off the land, alone in the wild, for thirty years. Highly recommended!

Watched the tv series I think it was on PBS with my grandparents who absolutely loved it and told me about a book about his journey in Alaska. So I decided I would buy it so I could read and they could read also. I was not disappointed I loved the book. Would highly recommend.

This is a 5 star read because I could not stop reading. Even though at times I wondered what he was doing, by-and-large every day blended into a whole that made sense. I was amazed by the distances and heights to which he went. Also the precise detail about the animals and-their habits kept me enthralled. For instance, he was never attacked by a bear. In fact he seldom carried a gun although both a rifle and a large caliber pistol were at the cabin. He also seemed immune to the danger that a moose represents. I think his absolute love for his place in this wilderness gave him a sense about danger that I know I would never have. In fact several days on the mountain I would have been predator food.I would very much like to have more of his journal published.

Love this book! Got if for my daughter for her b-day. She's always been a fan, but we had just purchased summer concert tickets, so I thought the book would be a timely birthday gift. (Given that she'd recently downloaded any remaining Ed Sheeran songs that she didn't already have on her phone.) But now she's been to busy with schoolwork to read the book, so I 'borrowed' it and read it myself. The narrative is very interesting, humble, and genuine. I REALLY enjoyed reading this history, and only wish that there could be an addendum to include Multiply and Divide. Maybe a volume 2 someday? :-) Also, the illustrations are beautiful (VERY talented artist!), and really add to the story. After reading this book, you'll want to hang out at the pub with your new buddy, Ed. Would highly recommend this book to any Ed Sheeran fan. <3

Pretty much everything I read in this book, I already knew just from watching interviews on You Tube. But if you love Ed Sheeran, would say get it. At least its in his own words. Super smart, talented guy.

This is the story in Ed's own words about his life so far. It is better than others writing about him. His friend did the art work in the book. It is easy to read and very awesome to understand about Ed. God bless Ed Sheeran and his artist friend! May he write many more songs and help the world learn to love!

Very much enjoyed this book. I respect this guy tremendously as an artist and the book is visually pretty dope. You should get it. It's nice to hear not everyone's journey is easy for them. Give's us regular artists hope or whatever. Talent can be learned if you put in the work. That's my biggest take away.

My 16 year old daugher is one of Ed's biggest fans for years. She was so excited to receive this book I can't even begin to tell you. The pictures in the book are beautiful and the story is wonderful of Ed's journey. Obviously, anyone interested in buying this book loves Ed Sheeran! Great present for anyone of loves Ed!

An excellent read into the young Ed Sheeran's life and musical beginnings! You really get the sense of his struggles he faced on the way to fame and beautiful pictures from Phillip Butah =) I would recommend getting this if you're a fan and want to learn about Ed's beginnings and life philosophy! Nicely written by Ed himself!

I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I've always been a huge fan of Ed Sheeran, even before he became famous in the United States. It was very interesting to learn more of his story and rise to fame and how continues to remain humble throughout it all. His passion and the pure heart and soul that goes into his work has always pulled on my heart strings as a fan. I recommend this book to any of his fans and any aspiring singer-songwriters. He's truly inspirational and Phillip Butah's art is breathtaking. These two were an amazing combination for anyone that appreciates art.

It is more of a guided compilation of fact. Frightening as I live inMiddletown , CT and grew on the southern end of Hamden, bordering New Haven and had no idea. Hiking in the areas that once were occupied by colonists, I cannot imagine why they would have chosen some locals over others, but much of these lands are preserved and untouched as public or private hiking trails like RWA properties which can by accessed through buying passes. Stunning to read the court documents and testimony. What was horrifying was the group of women who searched other women for the mark of the devil, which generally ended up in the region of female genitalia, but is so poorly described, it could be something as benign as a mole or skin tag.

I thought it would be interesting to read this book to get another view of the hysteria that wasn't limited to just Salem, Massachusetts. It didn't offer something markedly different from Salem or the earlier happenings in Europe but it was nice to see if there were any different twists. What I didn't like was the spelling of some words and the many typos that were sometimes hard to figure out. Overall it was still worth reading.

I listened to the kindle audio version of this book. It had the facts of accusations made against people, he said she said type deal. I think I was expecting more analysis. It was interesting in parts but very dry. Hard to follow all the people mentioned. The last chapter or so was very good and the historical notes.

I had the free Kindle version from Amazon. I found the book interesting, but about halfway through, it jammed, and I could not continue. I will try downloading again when I have time to finish reading it.

This book is so CHEAP. Most boys go through a stage where they want to turn lights on and off ALL THE TIME. The cover gives the impression it's a real light switch but it's just a push button ( and it's backwards - up for off and down for on) - not a switch errggghh....which is why I bought the book. Also, the light is so dim you can't tell it's on unless you're in the dark and then you can't read the book!! The sound buttons don't seem to make sense for the pictures either. This book could have the perfect gift for my grandson :(

My one year old son is obsessed with light switches, so I thought this book would be great for him. He really likes it and the sounds on the other buttons are cute - the light switch is a bit hard to turn on/off; however, he can do it, but he has to really work at it. I do not think it will be a problem when he gets older, though. Overall, this book is very cute - great colors, good sounds.

My two-year-old nephew loves Mickey -- and light switches -- so this was the perfect match. He likes the noises the buttons on the book make but the noises don't relate to the actual picture. Example: there's a button for a kite and telescope but those items don't have a sound in reality, so this book makes up a sound. Not very educational, but the kid likes it. Wish this book was fully narrated my Mickey Mouse like the other Mickey Mouse book I bought. I think the other book holds my nephew's attention better. I could see my nephew outgrowing this book soon. Wouldn't buy for an older kid but entertaining for 1-2 year-old.

This is a fun book. I bought it for my soon to be two year old. She loves it. She loves Mikey so when she spotted his picture she was excited. She also loves to flip the switch and turn the light on and off. The story is interesting and brief enough to hold her attention. I recommend this book to anyone with small children since they will most likely enjoy flipping the switch too.

I ordered this for my toddler's 2nd birthday. He loves to turn our light switches on and off at home and he adores the cardboard books with the musical buttons. This book was perfect for him. The light is on a timer, so it wont just continuously stay on. When we gave the book to him, he sat there for an hour pressing all the buttons and turning the light switch on and off. He sat on my lap and made me read him the book over and over again. He loves it! It is his new favorite book!

Cute book...the battery it came with did not work, and it was very difficult to get it open to change the battery. Bought it as a Christmas gift for my 3yr old, so did not take it out of packages to test before wrapping it for under the tree. He was majorly disappointed when he went to press the buttons and nothing happened. I did not buy an extra battery for it because it stated one was already provided, and inputted. He lost interest immediately after seeing it was a fluke.

I bought this book for my son as a gift for his 2nd birthday. I chose it because he loves the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and recently light switches. It seemed like a match made in heaven for him and I was right! He loves turning on and off the lights and pressing the other buttons as well. He calls it his light book. His review would no doubt be 5 stars, but mine is 4 for the following reasons. The book isn't very long, I like for his books to be more than just a few pages. The only other issue I have with the book is the volume of the sounds, it's very loud with no options to turn it down. I feel like it's too loud when we are reading it as a bedtime book. With those two minor issues, I'm still giving the book a 4 star review due to the entertainment value it brings him!
