First, this book on international style will never replace a teacher. If you want to learn international style, give yourself about a year with a private teacher. If you're a couple, figure 2 years. It is impossible to learn to dance from a book. Footsteps show alignment only. Books do not teach technique, and international style is all about technique. If you want to learn to dance socially, take private ballroom dance lessons with a good studio. This book is not for you.A piece of advice, Forget about group lessons. No one learns to dance in a group.This book is very clear and written for someone who knows how to dance.Last, you need to learn amalgamations, i.e., continuity. Learning one step at a time doesn't work. This book will tell you which figure precedes or follows a given figure.

Modern Ballroom Dancing: All the Steps You Need to Get You Dancing is an accurate title for a great little book. A dancer who studies and practices what this offers will indeed be dancing soon. It is good for steps but needs follow up with a coach for body positioning to help make the dancing more comfortable.

I purchased this book to compliment my dance instruction. Being that I take lessons in Japan, I needed a book, in English, which would reinforce and further explain what was being taught to me in class. I have found it a very useful book. However, this is not a book for a beginning dancer! The explanations and footwork patterns are detailed, but if you have no experience with ballroom dancing, the figures and explanations will mean very little to you.Some of the more complicated steps do not have foot diagrams, which would have been helpful. All and all, an excellent book!

This is a good book to summarize all steps for many popular dances. My only problem is it does not have step graph for every steps. Only about half of them are illustrated. One step graph wins thousands of words.

I have both the Victor Silvester book and Alex Moore's ISTD ballroom manual. I personally find the ISTD manual more compact, and a lot better organized. It is a little more expensive than Silvester, and it also has no pictures, but it is much more useful in my opinion.The Victor Silvester book is a ballroom instructor's manual with pictures, and the reader's understanding of the material will be exponentially proportional to his prior experience. That is, the beginners will not find it useful at all, while the intermediate and advanced dancers will be able to learn quite a bit from it. The pictures and figures are more like eye candy, as they are taken from dance competitions. They are not used to illustrate the steps.Although the book covers all ballroom steps from beginner to gold, it doesn't tell you which one is which. Also, it only covers up to latin bronze steps, and does not explain essential concepts such as Cuban motion and samba bounce. Unlike the other manuals, the Victor Silvester book also go over the basic steps for Viennese Waltz and (huh huh ...) disco. These steps are fairly basic. If the user are already at the level at which he can learn from the book, I doubt these steps would be too challenging.Also, a word of warning for the prospective dancers. I have seen (and met) a lot of people who try to learn from the book directly, only to be discouraged by the less than desirable results. What a lot of these books won't tell you, or at least convey effectively, are the fundamental aspects of partnered dancing, such as posture, communication, movement, and body connections. These aspects have to be taught and shown by a qualified instructor, because these points can't simply be put in words and are fundamental to all partnered dancing.

This is a pretty good book for anyone who's currently taking lessons in International-style dancing. It goes through all 10 dances used in International Rhythm and Smooth competition. The author presents about 12 or more variations in each dance. There are foot diagrams for about half the variations. He details the footwork (written), contrary body movement, timing, sway and amount of turn. All of the photos are of competitors at a dance event so they're not helpful if you're trying to learn how any figure looks. I don't think it's a book to buy if you're starting to learn how to dance but if you're already taking lessons, it's a good book to reinforce what you're learning. American-style is not covered at all.

I've been ballroom dancing for quite a while, and I bought this book in order to learn some more dance steps over and beyond the basics. I found the descriptions and diagrams IMPOSSIBLE to understand, and the steps I could figure out ended up being out of place among the steps that I usually dance. I think this book is only good if you're a dance teacher who is used to reading steps in a certain format and can translate them into motion. If you're a beginner, this book will do you NO GOOD!

MODERN BALLROOM DANCING has been valuable to me in improving my skills in those dances with which I was already familiar. The usefulness seemed to have been in direct proportion to what I knew before reading the book. It has not been very helpful in learning new dances.The text includes several dazzling photos of competitive dancers in action.

Great coloring book for teaching about some species of dinos. I looked at multiple options before selecting this one because the text and detail in the drawings made this dino book the most appropriate for toddlers. However, parents will need to read the captions and especially the dino names for the littlest ones. I like how the text was realistic with meat eating animals and did not gloss that over, but also did shown dinos eating each other in the images. I suggest scanning the images into a computer so you can edit out portions to make the scene more focused on the animals for littlest ones. Information is more up-to date than expected. Brontosaurus was removed and its correct name of Apatosaurus listed. However, I do think in recent years some of these dinos species have been discovered to have feathers which are not in any drawings except for the Archaeopteryx. This coloring book is high quality. The paper is tough (thick) enough to resist ripping, the paper is bright white, and unlike every other coloring book I've bought the black lines do not smear. Of course none of this matters to my eighteen month old as she just scribbles everywhere, but dad appreciates the quality :)

I live in Dallas, Texas and my daughter and two granddaughters (3 and 7 years old) from California are coming soon for a visit and we have planned a special trip to "DINOSAUR WORLD" in Glen Rose, Texas. It's about a 2 hour drive and I wanted them to have something to do in the car that was dinosaur related and that's when I found the DINOSAURS Coloring Book by Anna Pomaska on Amazon.com. They're perfect...not to young for the oldest and not to old for the youngest! The 7 year old will be able to pronounce all the dinosaurs names because Anna phoneticized spelled each dinosaur's name which will make it fun for her to read to her little sister. It should be a fun day with a pleasant drive and thanks to all of you that posted a review about the coloring books...it helped with my decision. Karen

Daughter loved it. Age 4, book is obviously more suitable for older kids but coloring is coloring. I could see she likes that dinosaurs look different than the usual animals or princesses, barbies and Disney characters.

The pictures to color in are very large, perfect for younger children. I bought some dino shaped crayons from Etsy for my nephew to use on this book. I know he will love them both. Great book for the price!

It is a book that keeps your attention from page one to the end.This story is so many things; a fling turned to an affair, an adventure in living in spite of a handicap, and an underlying mystery and suspense. Learning who really are your friends and who is the wolf in sheep’s clothing? What a great cast of characters, I loved Nate and Eve together, how he opened up a new world to Eve with experiences, his friendship with his best childhood friends, and how they all played together. The plot kept me captivated and questioning some people’s motives, and the various plot twists kept me in constant suspense. The dialog between different characters showed the clashes in personalities and friendships, sometimes heartwarming and other times sinister. As the story evolves, and little things are said, you see how evil someone can be, and you are on the edge of your seat, and the pages keep turning. In the end, with truths revealed, eyes are wide open to what matters the most.

Okay - this book was so awesome that I decided to get the audible version. DO NOT get the audible version. The narrator was terrible. Not using inflection or understanding how to pause with commas is one thing; I could handle that. However, failure to pronounce words correctly made me flinch. For example: Dwell was “D-wel,” panting was “painting,” labia was “lybia,” and anonymous was mispronounced as “amonomous,” over and over again. Ladies....two of these words were crucial to enjoyment of the scenes and it was deessimated with these ridiculous mistakes. I could not get through the rest of the audible book and I feel like I need to read the book again just to get it off me! Highly recommend the book...trust me though, avoid audible if you can.

I really loved this book so much. It was emotional on every level in a way that was legitimate and real, not just for effect. The writing was fabulous and the storyline was unique. Well worth reading.Eve is a blind woman who was in a terrible accident shortly after high school graduation. She has been blind for a dozen years when the story takes place. Once a year, she fights to forget all that she lost in that accident.Nate is a third generation blue blood in Virginia high society. He doesn't respect his parents and doesn't want to go into the family business. His sister died most of a dozen years before and he too looks for an escape once a year.These two people with broken pasts find each other in this time of need. Their experiences and connection are so strong that they decide to engage in a no strings, short term affair. Of course, this affair grows into a true relationship but both sides are wary based on past relationship failures. To add a little more intrigue there are people on both sides of the relationship hoping it will fail and even maneuvering it to fail.However, while this summary may seem very stereotypical, this book is full of twists and turns that make it unexpected and a little bit more interesting. I can honestly say, I wasn't entirely sure how this book was going to go until the very end. Obviously, or rather, hopefully, we were moving toward a happily ever after but I really wasn't sure until the last couple of chapters. Also, whereas in most blind books, in my experience, the characters are hoping for some resolution of blindness, Eve and Nate, individually and as a couple, assuming they end up together, (NO SPOILERS!) would have honestly been happy and okay with whichever outcome they ended up with.I would also like to note that BJ Wane spent a lot of time on the blindness. It wasn't just a convenient character aspect to be brought up for drama. Eve was blind, she accepted this fact and tells Nate that if their relationship goes anywhere, even before the affair starts, that he has to consider that. Then there was follow through. It came up from both perspectives, not as a matter of weakness be a point of respect and strength. I want to clarify that Eve's character is not just the blind girl. It is more like a fact of life than a character trait, if that makes sense.NOTE: this book, unlike some with seemingly similar storylines, is very sexual. This is not a bad thing simply a warning. If you don't like this type of book, this book probably isn't for you. If you do like it, this is exactly what you're looking for.All of that said, the cost is ridiculous. When I saw it, I was highly doubtful that this book would be worth it and, having received it as a gift, I wasn't sure I would pay that much for it. Having read it, it is a powerful book with an amazing message and really just enjoyable in every way. I would say that the price is still a little high, just based on the length and the fact that it is an ebook but I would probably pay that price having read it. Hard choice and I don't think I helped much. I will say, if the price becomes more reasonable, I would say buy it, no hesitation.

What starts out as sex only gradually becomes much more.All major characters are well developed, including Holly, Eve's overly possessive best friend. I already live in the Appalachian Mountains, but I'm driving to Virginia to find Nate and his friends!! Because it goes without saying that I'll be downloading the rest of the books in this series. Nate was bossy, sexy, growly, sweet and incredibly intuitive to Eve's needs. And Eve just made me want to cheer for her with every new accomplishment she succeeded at as well as wanting her as my friend. A solid read with characters you feel like you know, a villain or two to despise and a new book boyfriend that made me want to lick my Kindle! This one gets a resounding "wet-panties", thumbs up. 😄

I'm sorry to say anything bad about this, because I do see the value of a book like this, but...although it says it "covers all of the basic techniques," it's obviously meant for intermediate or more advanced basketweavers. It doesn't list SPECIFIC supplies (other than raffia/raphia), but instead refers to "reed" and "needle" with no info about WHAT KIND, SIZE, ETC. As I've found, there's lots of different materials referred to as reed, as well as different sizes, shapes, etc. Same with needles. Something that covers "basic" things should address these topics for someone who doesn't automatically know what would be best or most suitable.

This book written with incredible information from 3 of the most talented Basket Weavers still alive. Questions answered and incredible projects to make sure you have the technique applied to make a basket. Great Book!!

this is great for advancing acim students. this book explores the dynamics of the ego dream. alex, with his guide, leaves his body in a pod and travels through the library of time, which includes clouds of probabilities. with forgiveness, a probability (an opportunity for forgiveness) is erased, leading a mind to other probabilities. the only freedom a mind has is the choice between the ego or the spirit. when we choose to read with the spirit, we are led out of the time of library. if you are just beginning acim and have yet seen merchand's first book, the universe is a dream, i strongly suggest starting with that one.

This journey takes you outside of the box. Like many made to believe by the ego that my mind is trapped inside my head I need dumb down science to break that belief. Alex does this well, and adds humor to the elixir. When you are ready for this book you will know. Trust me. And you will need to read his first two books. They are required appetizers:)

If you enjoyed the other books in the series, you'll probably enjoy this one. In it, we are taken to the Library of Time where we get to explore these alternate timelines. I found the insights into an alternate reality that split off from the events of 9/11 quite fascinating.Although at times it did feel a bit like beating a dead horse to talk about choosing spirit over ego, it was pretty interesting overall and I really enjoyed the whole experience.I do have to wonder though about this notion of speeding up one's life to get to the end of the story. I mean that kind of negates the purpose of incarnating here in the first place. I'm in favor of exiting human form and ending the cycle of reincarnation but I'm not sure that going about it the way that the protagonist in the movie Click did really makes a lot of sense. Might as well join the voluntary human extinction movement while I'm at it.I do definitely agree that life is absurd and funny and a big cosmic joke. While his stand up stuff would surely get him burned at the stake if he really did that in front of a live audience, it was hilarious to me.

Once again, Alexander Marchand has "dreamed up" another adventure. This time he visits The Library of Time with his otherworldly mentor, Zadeekee.That's all I'll say for now, but if you enjoyed Marchand's prior work, The Library of Time will not disappoint. As with his other books, which I recommend also, The Library of Time is helpful to those who are students of A Course in Miracles. His insights are not only entertaining, but they put ACIM in a context that is grounded in a way that we can see the illusion at work in our day to day lives. That has been a huge help to me in understanding ACIM. I wonder at times if time collapses for me just by reading his work.Speaking of reading, in The Library of Time, Zadeekee explains that once we stop reading stories, the mind will be healed.So, to summarize, in reading The Library of Time, you are reading a story about how if you stop reading stories, the mind will be healed. I wonder if the irony was intended.Since graphic novels must be time consuming to produce, many thanks to Marchand for putting volume two of this series out so quickly after publishing the first volume. Unless it seems that way because time actually has collapsed.I will definitely read volume three.
