This is Harry Bosch at his best. Relentless and methodical, he will not stop. Along the way he finds frustration, good and bad luck, heartbreak and even a little humor in his melancholy pursuit. This time is a bit more satisfying because everybody gets what they deserve. Even Harry finds some light on the very last page. I've said this before but every one of Connelly's books deserves to be a movie and Lost Light should be at the very top of the list.

Harry Bosch is not a cop anymore but he acts like one in this book. He’s retired from the LAPD and is haunted by a four year old murder case that was never solved. Having nothing better to do he reopens the case and starts a new investigation. In doing so, he runs up against FBI agents and night club owners who want him to keep his nose out of their respective businesses. Besides the unsolved murder, there is the matter of some two million dollars in cash that went missing from a movie set. This is one of the items in the story that I thought was a bit “over the top.” The movie’s director wanted to show real money in the film which caused all kinds of extra work and security measures that were eventually found to be ineffective. The other item involved an attack on Harry by a group of four suspects which took place in the darkness. No problem for Harry, thanks to his Viet Nam tunnel experience dealing with the VC. Harry also has a personal problem that vexes him: the absence of his ex-wife, Eleanor Wish, whom he misses dearly. Eleanor has been so successful playing poker in Las Vegas that she now has financial backers. He gets over to Las Vegas several times to see her and, in one touching scene, answers a question I’ve had on my mind for several years. It’s a good read and the complex plot makes you pay close attention.

I've been reading these books since the first Season of Bosch on Amazon. These are just so good. The books and the show are related, but they are different Harrys. I think I like the book version much better.It's hard to believe Harry Bosch has retired. But now he can investigate the cases he chooses. This one is a doozy. It's a cold case and it involves a bank heist, a missing FBI agent, and an anti-terrorism squad.Harry Bosch is an excellent detective and these stories are rich in detailed characters and vivid scenes. Very poignant at the end. It's okay to cry.

I accidentally discovered Michael Connelly's books a couple of months ago. Then I began watching the series Bosch on Amazon and I was hooked. Detective Bosch isn't a lovable Columbo-type ruffled detective. He is driven, tough, and he has had his share of tough times in his life. But underneath that exterior is a man searching for the truth and bringing justice all crime victims want. I am currently reading Echo Park and, like the dozen or so novels left, am enjoying every minute of my reading pleasure. I am also awaiting tonight's Series Three premiere.

There are so many times in this novel when it seems that Harry will not be able to solve this case from the past because of pressure from the LAPD, the FBI, former colleagues, and just about any other powers that operate in Los Angeles. Harry is retired in this one, and it is written in First Person, so we are in Harry's mind throughout. Some of the characters were introduced in earlier novels, as well as some of Harry's former colleagues. All of them add to the excitement and suspense right up to the last three chapters where the case is solved, and Harry goes back to Las Vegas unannounced to see his ex-wife, Eleanor, and get the surprise of his life. The plot twists are everywhere, and Harry has one of the most dangerous fights of his life with the perps in this case. It is one of the best of the Bosch series!

This was another Harry Bosch book. It's such a good story; twists and turns right up to the finish. It's good to read the books in sequence so you can follow Harry's life in the LA police department and in the cases that he works after retirement. With every book, I like him more; he's such a good human being, but a pit bull on a murder case until he solves it, and he solves every one of them, taking you along for the ride.Connelly is such a good writer; he knows LA well as he describes the streets and freeways Bosch travels in his quest to solve a crime. He also gives you an insider's look at the politics of the LA police department and their relationship with the FBI and Homeland Security. I have read almost all of the books now and this is a very good one.

Granted, I am a speed reader, yet two hours to finish a book falls more into the novella category than a full novel. Lesbians in the first book, gays in the third - not my cup of tea. I bought this because I can no longer afford to pay $5 or more for one Kindle book, but this purchase of ten was still a waste of $3.99. I do not like the characters: cocky main who knows everything, love interest who smirks, shop help always looking-down-her-nose, overly nosy and self-righteously gossipy relatives. I gave the second book a chance, though found myself skimming through some of it, and paged through most of the third just to get to the end so I am not wasting any more of my time on the remaining seven in this collection of Peridale Cafe mysteries. Looks like I am going to have to pay the $5 or more and just read fewer books.

Agatha Frost’s cozy mystery series set in the village of Peridale is one of my favorites! I love the setting, which she describes so well that I feel like I am right there throughout every book. I love the characters and their relationships with each other and how the characters and the relationships develop and grow with every book. The mysteries are interesting and plausible but unpredictable. I have never been able to guess “who did it” but it has always made perfect sense. There have been 3 more books in this series released since the 10 in this set. I love this series and can not wait for the next book! I very highly recommend this series to all cozy mystery lovers!

I can’t begin to say enough good about these good clean murder mysteries. They remind me a bit of Murder, She Wrote but even better. I bought the box set of 10 on a whim and I’ve already bought 11, 12, and 13. Can’t get enough of Julia and the citizens of Peridale. How in the heck can so much happen in one little village?

This series is the first cozy mysteries that I ever read and I love them! Julia and her bakery, her family and friends are just really fun to read. The mystery and how she solves things are always interesting! Grab these and catch up with all the comings and goings in Peridale!

The books were interesting to read. The two things I did not enjoy about them were the smirks and the fact that Julia always solved the murders before the police who are trained in doing so. The books would have been better if the police at least solved a few of the murders before she did.

This is a ten box set of cozy mysteries. I enjoyed reading every single one and couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Even at just one, it was well worth the cost, but with this one you get ten! The writing is neat. The story lines and characters are well thought out.

This box set was a joy to read - characters very likable and the stories with enough twists to keep you guessing although you KNOW the HEA is coming. I love Hallmark movie mysteries and this was that type of collection- in fact I hope Larry Levinson gives them a look especially with second and third generation spin offs already there.

Easy fun reading and great mysteries that keep you guessing!! Romance that's not sexual and murders that aren't bloody messes! Don't miss these! I even bought the last three to finish the series!😎 Enjoy!

I would not call this book a must have for role players, but as a storyteller particularly interested in crossover it provides most useful tools. Here are included extra disciplines for the Kuei-Jin toghether with a better explanation of what happens with those who do not belong tho Kuei-Jin society per se. Namely the akumas (as called by other Kuei-Jin). About the Author

Shawna Morton Cain is a direct descendant of Frog Town, Georgia Cherokees forcibly removed to Indian Territory in the early 1800’s.  A life-time resident of Cherokee Nation’s Trail of Tears District in Adair County, Shawna and her husband, Roger, have chosen to continue traditional Cherokee art traditions closely tied to their natural woodland environment.  A doctoral candidate at the University of Arkansas in Anthropology, Shawna stresses, “My Cherokee teachers from our home communities are just as integral to my graduate studies as my university teachers.  Each provides me with a strong foundation to better understand our people’s history, traditional knowledge systems and forms of artistic expression.” Awarded the title of “Cherokee National Living Treasure” for her work in traditional basketry by the Cherokee Nation in 2006, Cain continues to represent the Cherokee Nation as a master basket weaver and teacher.

This book is Magic.It holds so much information, and at the same time barely scratches the surface. It's about tradition, and about our future. This is an important book that I'm glad has been made.I do bead work and the first part of the book I went to was Martha Berry's pages about bead work. Her words made me sad for all that has been lost because of the Trail of Tears. It gives me hope - because care of those traditions are being addressed, learned again and so many people want to learn MORE.This book has SO much. It will capture you.I know I will go back to it again and again. And every time I do, I'll find something new.I heartily recommend it. -Penny Evans

After a hiatus, the author comes back to this whimsical, quite spicy sci-regency romance loaded with political intrigue and the shenanigans of a unique royal family. Diplomatic Relations was a book date waiting to happen just as soon as I got the joyous news that it was coming.Diplomatic Relations is the fourth book in the Sci-Regency series. Yes, read these in order. The intro to the mischievous Townsend family, their work to thwart a danger rising within a joint-military organization, and their paths to their hot and, oft times humorous, happily ever afters all tie together throughout the series.In this installment, the roguish Townsend cousin, Dalton Fairfax, is getting his story. Dalton, a military man, has been a secondary character in the series and I was always curious why he was closer to his Uncle Raleigh and cousins while avoiding his own parents like the plague. I was glad to finally get the deets on his past and see the shenanigans ensue when he becomes attracted to straight arrow political intern, Blaise Thompson, a ducal heir and the watchful eye on his younger trouble magnet brother. Blaise feels compelled to make his parents proud and secure the Councilman position that his family has always held. He is determined to help his people by tracking down the missing Jenkins family who have important intel in the ongoing secret investigation that Regelence is doing into the IN affairs. This unlikely pair end up working together, and maybe will work out if they both take a chance.So, for those unfamiliar with this series. There are some interesting features that set it apart. It is a unique world of humans in the future whose ancestors left earth and colonized out into the galaxy. Some planetary colonies to take as their model Earth's Regency Period and so, centuries later, they are a combo of regency and tech society. One of these planets, Regelence, took its uniqueness a step further and is not just gay friendly, but gay dominated. Their royals, aristocrats, and government leaders are male-male families. It's an interesting what-if scenario. I won't get into the deets of how they pull it off. The conflict arises from a United Nations-like organization called the Inter-galactic Navy that is made up of a council and military organization that is meant to be the peace-keeping policing action arm, but there are some within it who have decided to make a go at taking over the governance of all the galaxy by developing a planet-killing weapon and using Regelence genetic tech to make their own super-soldiers.The romance is hot and spicy, but is not isolated. There is the ongoing political intrigue story thread, good action scenes, and connection through family and friends all set against this futuristic regency world backdrop. Each couple, like Blaise and Dalton have their background stories and their romances that are teased out. I really enjoy how the author writes her pairs as partners and friends first and foremost even if they do have strong attraction or end up in forced or arranged marriages due to circumstances.All in all, I was utterly satisfied with this installment that returns to the series and promises further fabulous series installments. I loved the hints about future Townsends getting their stories and knowing that the rascally Bannon is the next one to get a story on a planet, Skye, made up of a Scottish Highlander clan culture. So, yes, if you are in to a historical-future, spicy hot m/m romance mash up, grab book one and dive in.

I wasn't sure if this was a new book or a reprint. . . So I consulted my library and sure enough, this is a brand new book! YES! It's been years and despite that, I was able to jump right into this world and characters. For those who have no idea what I'm gushing about, this is a military space opera m/m series involving royals, all set in a regency period on a distant planet. It's a male dominated society involving but not limited to gossip, political maneuvering, and avoid anything that tarnishes a reputation.Dalton is a nephew of Raleigh. He was raised with his royal cousins and was a visable face in previous books. Now he's a young man, back from serving in the military, and while figuring out his career, he immerses himself back in society. Always nice to be welcomed home with a water balloon fight. !!A few familiar faces pop in, just enough to keep tabs on their lives, but the main focus is on Dalton and his emerging relationship with Blaise. This is an opposites attract then find common ground while trying to avoid one disaster after another. . . And it all started with a snuffbox. Some new characters and plot twists are mentioned and I assume they'll be continued. Like the situation of the city's orphans, the laws affecting them, and the orphanage relocation. Then there was Percy -- He seemed spy material to me and who knows what is going on with him and Raleigh's youngest son. And then there's Griff, sounds like he's a bit pudgy, but such a wonderful friend. I wouldn't mind his story, either. I bet he had to leave town to avoid gossip, poor man. - Dan's Wife

Love this series. Never would I have thought of a Regency Romance set in the future on a planet with a primarily gay oriented society where the young lords needed to maintain their purity and were chaperoned to maintain their reputation. And somehow this works, due to the skills and obviously brilliant brain of J. L. Langley. Lots of witty banter, a bit of danger, and some hot scenes keep you reading as the characters work through their various personal problems to experience mutual love. Can't wait till the next book. Would advise you to start with the first, but this book can stand alone.

I don't know what happened. I have read everything this author has written and have loved everything. Then this came along. I am at 53% of the book read. I have stopped to read 2 other books in the middle and don't know when or if I will finish it. It is just boring. There is nothing to hook you and pull you into the story. The characters are a blank. I don't know what to say. I don't know what they are missing but there is no chemistry or excitement, it's just blaa. A waste of money.

I thoroughly enjoyed this newest Sci-Regency from JL Langley. With all the sci-fi and m/m romance added in, the author still gives us the classic regency story. It put a smile on my heart - thank you.

I was so disappointed. So many years waiting for another book from this author and it was boring. All her other books are in my favorite list. Unfortunately this one just has too many flaws. The angst is so short lived and ridiculous you think it’s an afterthought. Just can’t say that I enjoyed this one. So sad.

Langley's Sci-Regency series is an autobuy for me. Worth re-reading multiple times! A wonderful blend of science fiction, history and romance.

Very good read. Enjoyed both MC’s and their struggles. As always the Townsand family is hilarious!!! Can’t wait for the next in the series....
